2024 JBVI Bootcamp Hong Kong
Hosted by Department of Public and International Affairs, City University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong - JBVI Bootcamp is intended for entrepreneurship researchers in Asia Pacific who want to explore new topics in entrepreneurship, innovative research methods, and conceptual modelling and theorising. In addition, each participant will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their research project and overall guidance around how they can both develop a publication strategy and embed impact early on into their research projects.
Aims
To discuss and explore the challenges and practicalities of designing and conducting innovative research in entrepreneurship.
To support entrepreneurship researchers in Asia Pacific to further develop their research strategies and portfolio, with a balanced emphasis on publication outputs and societal impact.
To support entrepreneurship researchers in Asia Pacific to network and build relationships with others in their field of research from different institutions across the region.
As JBVI, we aim to learn from entrepreneurship researchers in Asia Pacific, so that we can better incorporate their views and ways of doing social science into the daily practices of the journal.
Format
The Bootcamp is divided into two parts, and you will receive a certificate of participation.
Morning session: Introduction to JBVI and the development of research insights for publication. Editors will introduce and discuss innovative papers published in JBVI.
Afternoon session: Paper development workshop where participants will have the opportunity to work on and improve their own papers or projects guided by the editors.
Editors will discuss publication strategies and how to embed societal impact early into the research process.

Application
Complete the application form (https://forms.gle/a7MHXTJ1Y8vhqwsw9) including structured abstract of a research project or paper (1,000 words max) and a short bio (100 words max). Deadline By 01st of July 2024.
Papers/projects at any stages of development are welcomed. You will receive notification if a place is allocated to you by the 15th of July. Please do not make any travel arrangements until you have received confirmation of a place.
Costs
The event is free for attendees. JBVI, Elsevier and City University of Hong Kong will cover the full cost of the event, including attendance to sessions and mentoring. Participants are asked to cover the cost of any travel and additional accommodation as required. City University of Hong Kong can provide one night of accommodation for up to 8 participants who meet the criteria for bursaries. Applications for bursaries will be assessed on a one-by-one basis, taking into account career stage and particular circumstances.

Journal of Business Venturing Insights (JBV Insights) publishes thought-provoking research, highlighting ideas at the forefront of current discussions of entrepreneurial phenomena. Such ideas might not yet meet the threshold for completeness, robustness, or theoretical explication, but they are extremely valuable as they can stimulate further necessary research. JBV Insights offers a platform for multiple disciplinary works and unconventional and silent scholarly voices. The journal is open to different disciplines and perspectives and thus welcomes papers that bring into entrepreneurship research ideas from within and beyond management scholarship, including the broader social and natural sciences. JBV Insights is also open to innovative methods and forms of theorizing. Through many of its initiatives, JBV Insights additionally aims to enhance the conversation among scholars and practitioners by offering a forum to disseminate novel and relevant entrepreneurship research rapidly.
